Prayers or good thoughts, please?
I originally was going to post about my visit to a Catholic Church tonight and talk about how I'm looking for a new church, but when I got home, I saw I had missed an IM from one of my Host Parent buddy's husband over at ParentsConnect.
See, she has breast cancer, and she found out today she will be starting chemo on Wednesday. When I found out she had cancer, I promised her I would shave my head in solidarity with her when she started the chemo.
I explain more about why I'm doing this in my ParentsConnect blog, but I'll give you the short story over here, in case you're too lazy to link. I've always felt like God hears all our prayers, but he *especially* hears our prayers when you offer up something to Him in exchange.
I love my hair, but I care about TheNewGirl more. I want her to be healthy and happy. I hope this will help God make sure this goes well for her. Also, even though she lives in Florida, I want to shave my head so she knows that even across the miles, she is not alone, my thoughts and prayers are with her.
So, send some good thoughts and prayers her way. As for me, I need some wooly warm hats. ;)

You are a brave, compassionate person Ivy. Gutsy. Sensitive. Amazing. Wow.
That is such a wonderful and touching gesture, I am in awe. You obviously totally rock.
They're correct. You totally rock.
Hope all goes well for your friend. Sounds like the doctors are being aggressive and not delaying.
Cool! Don't forget to donate your hair for a wig. :)
That's incredibly bold of you! I'll be praying for your friend.
Last month we found out that a lady at our church had an advanced case of cancer in her lymph nodes. Since the cancer was so advanced, she was scheduled to take some pretty heavy chemo. She had already gone through a treatment regimen last Summer so she was weak already.
One Sunday all the ladys of the church wore hats in solidarity with her. Unfortunately she died the Friday night before. All the ladies decided to wear hats in her honor that Sunday. After morning services, all the women of the church gathered at the front of the sanctuary to have their pictures made as a group. There were so many women with hats that they couldn't get them all in one picture. It was one of the most moving things I've seen. Tears were everywhere.
Your sharing of this burden means more than you know. God is doing some great things through you.
You are the bees knees, lady. Way to show the cajones and heart we all know you have.
Best of luck to your friend...I hope the chemo does it's job quickly and effectively.
